you need to remember, with a dump trailer you need a good truck to pull the trailer around like a 3/4 or 1 ton. i've have a dump trailer and didnt like it as it was a pain using. Now all i use is dump trucks.

I have a 6x12 cam dump i love it but hate it at the same time . it is great for carrieing more than a dump i can carry the bobcat inside it but when it comes for trying to back it into small spots or park it in tight areas it's a pain also the dump ing part i think it spreads the dirt out farther because the bed is lower

I've seen this question pop up regularly. I really think the guys who have the dump truck and dump trailer have the best thing going. To set a different tone to this I think my pickup truck is the most useless piece of equipment. Pickups for landscaping work, not lawn mowing, seem kind of useless. Dump trucks can haul more volume and dump stuff rather than shoveling it out of a pickup. I have a dump trailer and like the trailer for what it can hold compared to a 1 ton dump truck. If I can pick up a dump it's CDL time for me for hauling the dump trailer (14k), something to keep in mind. The trailer is cheaper and hopefully I can invest in a dump truck (450-550 type) some day when the work calls for it. I love my pickup and wont get rid of it but want a dump to replace it for working.

Most trucks will charge the battery in the dump trailer from daily driving. Well, atleast mine does. I've yet to replace my battery in the 3-4 years that i've owned it.

Want to say thanks everyone who left comment and their feedbacks. I've decide that I will go down with dump truck route.

It seem to have more pro than con verus owning dump trailer. It will meet all my needs and more so forth.

So again - thanks for make my choice easier!

hey Irwin- Let me know which way you go. I am in the same spot, but think I am going with the trailer. My tax man says it is easier to write off new equipment, and a new dump truck isn't going to fit my wallet. Has anyone looked at these dump trailers?

jbkitley - I've decide to go down with Dump Truck route ... it got more pro than con for me.

    - Hauling/Dump Mulch and yard waste faster/easier
    - Hauling/Dump Firewoods
    - Back up in tight spots
    - Can pull our upcoming enclosed trailer
    - Snow removal/plowing
    - ETC

Even though it going to cost us more money but we feel it going to benfit us much more than trailer can with our business esp that we will use truck lot during winter in Western MD where we get heavy snow during these months.

    Good luck!
