My 2003 Duramax / Allison has 200,00 km on it now...nobody will offer me a decent trade value so I figure I will be driving it for another 5 years!
Anyone know the expected life expectancy of this combo?
Thanks for any answers.....It has been a great truck so far.

These motors were marketed to be good for at least 200,000 miles. A well taken care of engine should last to 300,000. It really comes down to if you're willing to pay for injectors after they go out of warranty at 200k.

You Only Have 125k Miles On It And No One Will Give You A Fair Price For A Diesel. That Is Tuff. Of Course, You Said Trade In Also. Dealers Love To Sack It To You. Try Selling It Out Right. I Wouldn't Be Scared Of A 125k Miles.

The engine should be good for a minimum of 250K. Take the injectors to and Injector, Governor and Pump shop. It will be cheaper than the dealers.

Chevy even rates the 8.1L gas engine in the 3500 for that long before any internal failures. Won't comment on the tranny as mine has already spent a month at the dealer's for warranty repair of the flexplate/pump.

Good friend of mine has two, one with 190000 that smoked a trans at 15000, and second Trans. is still going strong. Now his new one has been back to the dealer few time just for Trans. problem but i think they got it worked out. He held on to the older one cause they wouldn't give him a decent price for trade, Its a 2001 and it clean too.

I belong to a GM Diesel forum and there are a few guys on there with 500,000 miles on their trucks. Given that is an extreme case, it shows that it is possible. 250,000 to 300,000 miles isn't unreasonable though.

You will get 300,000 easy out of the engine. As for the rest of the truck I don't know? My 2003 Silverado is holding up fine so far.
