is it the same size hole as and standard edger blade? so would it fit on a stihl edger?
My fc 95 has a pretty open guard i think the thing said it was a 8.25 inch blade which should fit. i just wanna no if anyones done itIm sure it would, if its the same size hole. But you will definitly need a bigger guard. I thought about gettin a blade for my edger...just haven't really looked into it yet, I think you can get the blades through home depot too!
What did the blade cost?I converted a stick edger to a bed redefiner using the Echo blade. Then again, I used a Echo stick edger to begin with. I bought the OEM guard to go with it. Works good with a lack of power due to the weight of the blade. Here's a pic of it when I first got the blade and fitted it to the edger.

That is insane. I saw a site a few months ago that had "real" bed edger blades for the bedshaper for like $110. It is a much heaver duty blade and close to twice the diameter.I paid $130 for it.
Ya it is just for a blade, but far cheaper than 6-7 hundred bucks for the echo unit! That is insane. I saw a site a few months ago that had "real" bed edger blades for the bedshaper for like $110. It is a much heaver duty blade and close to twice the diameter.
That's right. I have $160 invested and have made that back 10 fold. I already had the stick edger.Ya it is just for a blade, but far cheaper than 6-7 hundred bucks for the echo unit!
thats the way i see it, i dont care if i gotta spend $160.That's right. I have $160 invested and have made that back 10 fold. I already had the stick edger.
Lack of power isn't that bad. It does the job. I've cut new edges with it on a few places. It gets the job done for 1/4 the price.I thought long and hard about doing the same thing but changed my mind. I was told by a number of people from dealerships that the conversion would not work with the stick edger.
Even though you used an Echo stick edger and the OEM guard the lack of power due to the weight of the blade is only one factor, you also have to figure in the size of the motor 25.4cc vs 28.1cc on the BRD, the shaft not being as heavy on the stick edger as well as the gearing not being the same as the BRD 280, all cause lack of power.
When you figure the cost of the conversion vs the BRD the price of the BRD is not that bad a deal IMO.
I can't see how you figure you only have $160 investment?? And how you figure it's only 1/4 the price.Lack of power isn't that bad. It does the job. I've cut new edges with it on a few places. It gets the job done for 1/4 the price.
Do a quick search in the search box for trench blade...you wont want one from the owner of trench blade, maybe an aftermarket??Is the TRENCH BLADE still avaible?
Ok I see what you are saying now, I was using the price of the Echo stick edger @ $309.99 plus the $160 for the conversion and costing $470 the math didn't figure right. I didn't know you had the PAS 265 and you were using a free attachment with the price of the conversion. Doing it that way you got a great deal on the Redefiner. I just hope it keeps working for you.I bought a PAS 265. The dealer sold it with a stick edger shaft. I bought a blade to fit it for $130 and a guard for somewhere around $20-30. I then found a deal on another straight shaft attachment for my PAS that I got for free. So, $160 total investment to have a bed redefiner times 4 or 1/4 of the cost of a BRD-280 that sells for $599.99 add some tax and you're right around 1/4 of the price. Simple math really. Now do you see it?
It might be a little high in price but you have a solid bed edger. It should pay for itself no problem.Ok I see what you are saying now, I was using the price of the Echo stick edger @ $309.99 plus the $160 for the conversion and costing $470 the math didn't figure right. I just purchased the BRD and after working on two separate dealers I managed to get the thing for $549 + tax, which IMO is still to much money for the thing.
