I have a yard where the roots from the grass are making it really difficult to edge the beds. I can only get my shovel to go down about an inch at most. I tried using a gas edger but that is proving to be a hassle as well. It turns out that I have to basically yank out all the edging and grass with my hands. Any easier way to accomplish my goal of edging this property?

Well, depends. I saw a attractive picture of a tree with the roots exposed and fine wood chips lightly used as mulch.
The roots were used as a focal point in the lawn but this tree had an unusual ammount crawling roots.
Just an idea, If I can come up with the name of the tree or a picture I'll post.

Sharpen your shovels!! Are you sure the grass roots are the problem? What type of grass is it?
