University of Georgia and PLCAA have a program Certified Turfgrass Professional. It goes into diseases fairly well. It also covers insects, soils, establishment, maintenance, etc. It is a well rounded course.
If you are going to take over a Pesticide Application Business you are going to have to be certified in your State, the certification course will cover diseases somewhat. You can also pick up a book on Turf Diseases from Amazon.com or any other book seller.

    Good Luck,
