I'm in the process of setting up my new enclosed. Its a Haulmark with very thin walls with studs every 24". My question is what is the best way to secure racks and shelves to the wall? Would self taping screws hold?

Self-tapping screws should work. Try #12 self-tapping screws.

use self tapping screws to secure 1x4's. Then you can just hang stuff from them or if you need some extra clearance like hanging a trimmer rack, you will have to use 2x4's.
