i was wondering what kind of mower to start out with I am planning on getting a new 48'' viking hydro to start out with. the more i think about it I am also thinking of finding a used belt driven 36'' walkbehind in case I have to go through gates. Is this a good idea or should I just stick with the 48'' for now and just buy a good quality pushmower instead. I am looking for a trailer what would be a good size to buy. Also I am wondering if putting inserts in the local newspaper will attract a lot of business for me. I would like to anywhere between 30 to 40 lawns could I do it with a walkbehind and not be trying to be too overwhelmed.

Depends on how much you have to spend. Could buy a Quick 36 for 2k for the small gates and then go with a used walkbehind as big as you can get or if you don't have much to play with, buy a used mower and put a flex deck on it.
