I cut a property today and they agreed to charge for time. But it took 2 guys 2 hours. It has a pool area, garden walk, tennis court, so lots of trimming. I charge $40.00 an hour but that would mean $160.00 a cut? My largest account is $50.00 so this seems insane. I can probably cut 30-45 minutes off since it was the first time I cut it and it was real long. Do you drop the hourly rate with lawns this big?

    Holy CRAP,

never let them pay you by the hour, and 40.00 an hour is WAY to low,
especially for 2 guys, 160.00 Does NOT seem insane, it sounds about right to me.

    If you charge 160.00, that's @ 1.00 a minute =$120.00
however much you pay your help, and however much you pay yourself.
then the Co. Needs to make money.
    SO if you paid yourself, 25.00 an hr. that's 50.00 - 160.00 = 90.00
    Now your helper would make about 8.00 an hour, 90.00 - 16.00 = 74.00
so all's your pocketting for the co. is 74.00 NOW take out your expes....
Fuel, Insurance, Driving time, I would guestamate 15.00 - 20.00
that leaves 50.00 for the Co. whitch means wear and tear on equiptment.

Doesnt look good does it ?
