Newly Rebuilt Kohler ch740 motor, runs great. My issue is I have to charge the battery every night, it seems running the motor is draining the battery and also not recharging it. I get about 6 hours of mowing on a full charge battery before its click click dead..... Brand new battery. Any help?

    Check your fuses..
Make sure the regulator is plugged in and properly grounded
Make sure you are getting 12 volts pos to the center prong on the regulator when the key is turned on.

We recommend checking the charge fuse, the stator output (minimum of 38VAC), and the regulator/rectifier output (13.7-14.7VDC). If either the regulator/rectifier or the stator has failed, we strongly suggest replacing both components.

You need to check the fuse holders also, as they will sometimes loosen the grip on the fuses and can start arcing, corroding and generally creating too much resistance, etc.

Did ya do as Wilford suggested and check for 12v at the regulator B+wire?

    How 'bout what Exmark said??

:usflag: Well I figured it out guys, thanks Pistonslapper. It ended up being a little metal screw had worked its way out of the rectifier grounding tab. Its charging the battery and keeping it charged now. Thanks again guys!
