Just picked up a 2000 Ranger, 22hp Kohler, 60" front deck 3-wheeler with less than 300 hrs., home owner useage. I have a few questions:

    1. On a decent sloped hillside, is it best to go up and down with these mowers or start at the bottom and go side to side. The owner said you could lift the deck a little for extra traction is needed.

    2. It currently has mulching setup on it, should I ditch the baffles, and replace the blades for side discharge? Not sure how high of grass the mucher can handle.

    3. Any watchouts for this mower......... weak spindles, hydro unit, maintaince issues, etc.?

Until you get the hang of it's hill side capabilities, Back up slopes, then go straight down. Learn to tweak the deck up a little bit to gain traction. Does it have an axle lock??? If so, learn to use that too.
