I'm looking for a F-150 truck. I want the V8 but do i go with the 4.6 or the 5.4? I'll be towing a 12' trailer with 2 48" walkbehinds and other misc. stuff. Would the 4.6 do it or not? Help me out on this one if ya can

    I have a F150 with 4.6 and F250 with 5.4. Get the 5.4!

i have a 4.6 and it does fine, but the next one will be a 5.4 3/4 ton...if you can afford it go with the 3/4 and the bigger motor, if not, you can definitly get by with the 4.6 1/2ton, i have for years, i pull a ferris zeroturn and a lesco walkbehind just fine.

Get the 5.4L , the 4.6 will leave much to be desired, plus there is only 1mpg difference between the 2. You'll be glad you got the extra power.

    Definately go for the 5.4.
Also, try to get one with the 3.73 rearend.

Most trucks on the lot come with a 3.55 or lower.

I got a 4.6L V8 in my F-150. Never again. Its cheap on gas and thats about it. My buddy truck (my back up rig since he helps me out at times) has the 5.4 V8 in his F-150. Big difference.

My new truck is going to be a F-350 diesel. I need more power. And something that weights more than the trailer does with equipment.

I had a 99 f-150, with the 4.6, gutless, go with the 5.4. Mine would downshift if a good gust of wind hit me.
