Looking at 2004 -2007 Ford F-150 and F-250s 4X2. I am wondering if there is any real difference in gas mileage with 5.4 in each truck. Currently running a 4X4 nissan Frontier max mileage with trailer 14mpg.

The trucks make no difference but be sure the check the rear end gear ratio, the 150s probably have a 3.55 and 250s 3.55 or 3.73, so no real difference there, but if you find a 250 with 4.10s that's gonna be a bit of a difference

If you want mpg out of the 5.4 you will want the F150 with the six speed 3V motor.

Unless you get the 150 with the 'payload package' there is about 600# difference between the F150 and the F250. So say about 10% difference in weight. Assuming all else is equal (gear set, cab size, no oversized tires), you should have a reduction in fuel mileage of with the F250.

My '08 250 with the 5.4 gets 9.7 mpg on the highway or city. It sucks but its necessary. If i baby it it still gets the same so I drive it hard :weightlifter:
