I am starting to see good deals on some of these trucks at least I think they are good deals.

I want a supercrew truck as my family is now growing. I dont plan to use it for work much. I am looking for a f-250 crew cab diesel. I came across this deal and I am thinking about it.

    F-350 04' dually lariat 6.0 4x2 97,000 miles crew cab $18k. Is that a good deal.

    Also f-350 04' 6.0 4x4 srw 84k miles xlt $16k.

What do you think about those deals?

I looked for a long time. I got a 2004 crewcab 4x4 with 18500 miles for 16.5k. Go through a private owner and get something with less miles.

To many miles for those prices..03 and 04 are the worst years for the 6.0. try to find a 05+. They are much better.

I think if I was in the market for a 1 ton srw I would go with a 05 and newer. The main reason is you get bigger brakes and the improved suspension. Ya leaf springs are good for a F-450-550 for a 350 P/U truck the radius arm coil spring rides nicer and turns sharper.

As for those prices they are on the high side.

I'd be hard pressed to buy a 6.0 PSD of any year.

    Find a 7.3l

no 6.0...do some investigating but there is a reason why the 6.0 engines are less than the older 7.3, The original 7.3 engines w/ smaller injectors, no innercooler, a couple other small details, had a bit less power but are rock solid. (original meaning 95 thru early 99...99 1/2 they changed to the late model 7.3, those are the ones you really want.) The 6.0 engines are junk. Die hard Ford guys will tell you all about it. My uncle has an '06 w/ the 6.0 and it's not bad actually. Chances are they probably got it fixed by then but anyone who really knows these trucks won't give you 2cents for a 6.0, so it makes your resale market a little tougher when you go to sell it.
If you're really "looking", and not just jumping on something, get an early '03 F250 or F350 crewcab w/ the 7.3. They're about the most sought after model. It's the absolute latest model 7.3 you can get.
When I update that's what I'm going to get. Of course you could opt for a brand new one and drive it 'til the wheels fall off, but I doubt you want to swing $55k.

you mean 95-97 strokes. 99 is when the new intercooled strokes came out. 99.5 just had a slight upgrade, but nothing really changed.
