Where is the control module located on the FC 420V engine? I have no spark and need to test both the ignition coil and the control module. I pulled the coil out but cannot locate the control module. Does the terminal on the coil go to the control module (i.e. trace the lead back to the control module?

Thanks

If by control module you mean igniter, it is mounted on the flywheel. I've heard others call them "ignition module." It is just as important as your coil.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I've read and it seems that there are several versions of the FC 420V. Mine ends with AS19. Some versions have this "ignition module or control module", others reference an ignitor on the flywheel.

Here is an excerpt from a post that was describing the "ignition module":

"Without going down to the garage and looking it should be on the side that the dip stick is on attached to the outside of the engine. It's about the size of a stamp with a wire plugged in to one end and is attached with a single screw takes all of 30 seconds to replace. Replace that and 9.9999 times out of 10 it will start right up. The part costs $72 but we have only had to replace two in 19 years."

I checked all over the engine and found nothing. My coil is a 21121-2087. Besides the spark plug wire, it has a spad lug connection on top. The wire to this spad lug appears to come from the on/off switch. I am assuming that it is a kill and probably has the safety devices connected to it as well.

The ignitor on the flywheel, is it held in place with screws? Can it be replaced by itself or do you have to replace the flywheel. Any way to test it?

Thanks.
