I have to bid a fence instal and are not sure of the pricing. This is a 4ft black aluminium, set in concrete. There will be three gates.

Is there a general price per section of fence?

A fence job is the same no matter the fence , dig hole, crete, measure, mount fence on post.

Also I'm looking to buy a used auger but not sure what kind or if it should be?

Should I buy a one or two man?

What size bit do you use is there a rule on hole size based on post size?

Its been a few years since I was in the fence business, but I will try and take a stab at this one. You will want to bid per linear foot. You might want to call a fence company in your area to get prices, but I recall the aluminum ornamental fence was between 20-25/ per foot installed. I would then check on the prices of the gate, then add 50 bucks per gate to hang. Stay away from the two man auger. We used a one man little beaver auger and it was much easier. This size fence will require a 6" bit.

Check your rental houses, I know there are a couple of companies that sell a one-man auger. It consists of a small hydraulic pump, a four-wheel dolly that holds the motor and a small boom with the auger on it.

That or just go rent a dingo with the auger attachment.

Get a 5.5hp little beaver one man auger. http://discountfence.org/fencestore/little-beaver-auger-5-5-hp-honda-gx-160-with-10-pneumatic.html?___store=default We would use 6", 8", and 12" bits with no problem. I think on the 4x4 we used the 8" bit. have never used the earthquake, but don't think it would cut it.

If you are going to get into doing fences, arbors, and pergala's I would recommend getting a Dingo or a M cat with an augur attachment. You can do so much more with it and it is more versatile. I was in the fence buisness for sometime. I would recommend calling a fence company and ask them for a materials qoute. There are a cpl of diff companies that make Aluminum fences. Ameri-Star and Elite are 2 of the top. Or call the fence producers directly. Is it around a pool? Make sure you meet your local codes. Have it UFPO'd FIRST!!!! Before you dig. Ask the homeowner if there are any private lines in the ground that UFPO would not mark out. Check to see if you have access to water. I would not recommend Dry setting. For your gates make sure you use a thicker gauge post. If you use regular posts, they tend to not hold the gate well. Make sure you understand how the fence goes together. Some manufactor's such as Elite you cant install the posts then come back and hang a the sections you have to install post then section then post then section with the ameri star you can set posts and then hang sections.
