I'm within days of buying my new equipment and wanted to get some of you pro's to evaluate #1 (am I getting a fair price) and #2 (your opinion on the equipment selection). I've received my quotes and talked with the vendor(s). Here's what the bottom line is:

    (1) Ferris S1500ZKAV2148,21 HP. 48'' Deck, Commercial Zero Turn = $5999.00
    (1) Ferris HC32KAV13, 32'' Hydro Cut 13HP. Kawasaki = $2499.00
    (1) Ferris 3-Bag Fast Vac System = $2099.00
    (2) Red Max Back Pack Blowers = $469.00/ea
    (2) Red Max Trimmers = $289/ea
    (1) Ferris Trailer Hitch = $50.00
    (1) Ferris Mulch Kit = $160.00
    (1) Ferris Light Kit = $60.00

    Total: $12,383.00

Your comments and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Since you are in Wisconsin, have you checked out Bad Boy mowers? We bought our first one last year, and it is un-believable. got a 60" 27 hp for 6000. They have a 48" pup for 4500.00. We are buying two of those this year to replace aging Bobcat riders.

How does a Bad Boy stack up to Ferris?

Bad boys seem to be built REAL heavy duty. Very solid.

But I havent seen a whole lot about cut quality in this region.

Have you considered a larger motor for that Ferris? JMO, but I'd go with something larger than the 21hp engine for that Z.

Oops, just looked at the Ferris website. Doesn't look like you can get anything but the 21 for that model.

The suspension on the Ferris is the selling point. If you're doing 1/2 acre and under lawns, it won't matter. I've mowed ball fields at top speed for 7 hours, and it would be nice to have, but I'd rather use the money on a larger deck, engine, grass collection system, etc. Just my .02

Well I know, but you were specifying the 48" deck which is 21hp only. I should have clarified my statement.
