Ferris IS 1550z with 19hp Kawi. Starts with no issues when mower is cold. Afer mowing one lawn and trying to restart at the next house is very difficult but will restart after cranking for a minute or two. Where would be a good place to start trouble shooting the issue. Any input greatly appreciated.
Check the simple stuff first..
Sparkplug condition..
Make sure choke is fully opening and closing..
Check engine and ignition switch connections for melting or corrosion
Check fuse holders..
While you have the plug wires off look up inside the boots at the connectors, Check for rust or corrosion. If bad, The end connectors can be replaced once before the wires are too short......
I got good money that the choke is staying open all the time after you pull the cable for the first time that day. I've been having to put a spring on the choke lever to open it back up so it will start without flooding out. Since a last year- kawasaki has fixed the problem on the new models
After getting a few minutes to actually look at the mower I found the problem after pulling the first plug wire. The terminal had a bunch of corrosion on it. Replaced both plugs and problem is gone. Thanks for all the input.
