I am going to look at a used 2004 Ferris IS3000XK27/61 with 275 hrs. From what I could find out the only difference between the 3000 and 3100 (except for price) is one has the rops and the other one doesn't. Is this true? Also anything else I should be worried about or check for on this unit? Thanks to everyone who replies

I've got a 2004 IS4000 which I'm assuming would be very similar to a 2004 IS3000. The 4000 has a different deck and suspension setup compared to my 3100. The 3100's deck is more open underneath and disperses the clippings better but unless I'm mowing some really thick or wet grass the difference isn't very noticable.

Another difference is you can get the 3100 with a 72" deck. We have one with the big B&S engine on it. And we have a couple of 3000's and a 4000 as well too.

There is a lot of things different with the IS3000 and IS3100 other rops. The pumps are now 12CC Different rear suspension which is a huge improvement i the ride. The deck lifts is easier now. They have the huge hurcules spindle with a 1 1/4 inch spindle shaft and greaseable. There is a a lot more to the IS3100 over the IS3000. The best choice is the 32 briggs big block, the mower just keeps on cutting!!!!
