Ferris was the first to make a hydro walk behind in 1988. They have great units. I believe a 3 year warranty on the hydros.

noy sure i geard they are really heavy, you might want to check that out, you wouldn't want something weighing a 100 lbs more on the yard unless you had to.

Maybe sd250 is thinking of the wide track hydro! that thing is huge! they also make a normal sized hydro!

The units appear to be well built. I checked a couple days ago on price: $2,850. for the 36" SD Single-hydro w/ transaxle. As far as weight and specs, there's a advertising link right here on Lawnsite! (check the banner) Also, the 3-year warranty is correct on the Eatons...

I have a derby 36" hydro it's made by ferris (it's the same mower just a different color. The only problem i have had with the derby it the drive tires seem like they are further forward than most mowers and it makes it a little lighter in the front. I havn't decided if it makes to much of a difference mowing. But it sure does make it easier to load, climb hills, and sharpen the blades, it will stay leaned back with the deck in the air, makeing it easier to service.

I have a 52 hydro have had it for 4 years now it has a 14 hp. KAWASAKI would be better with a 17hp. but is a very good mower, have not had any problems with it. and will probably by another some day.
