Anyone using ferris walk-behinds? I am thinking about just running a crew with walk-behinds to go out and do smaller property's with and have another crew for the Z's to out with. The model I am interested in is the DD 48in, anyone use this one? Any good reviews on it? Any bad ones? One thing that I like about this mower over Ex-mark, scag is the twist of handle to raise the deck just like my 34in simplicity. I havn't seen many ferris's around here, mostly I see is bob cat and ex-mark.

qualitylawnmanagement - I use Ferris 36" belt wb for gated yards but my main mower is a Ferris 52" HydroWalk DD with a 23hp kaw. IMO it's the best hydro wb out there. Mine is a 2006 with a fixed deck.

Ferris are greatfo almost half the price of scag and exmark. No deck problems that I have heard of unlike scag and exmark.Quick infinite height adjust on the floating deck models just started this year so if you go with ferris you would want to get 07 for the 48 inches or above. Electric start comes standard dual stage filters. This years model are so great I keep trying to talk myself into buying a new 48 even though I don't need one.

We have 5 of them right now. Been using Ferris for almost 15 years. Their WB's are extremely reliable machines.

I will second what Rod said...I have had two and they were great machines. I sold the 52" when I went over to the Standers, and still have my 36". I went with them because we have a great dealer here who stocks all of the parts and repairs my machines (usually) while I wait.

Just make sure you can get parts and service for your machine, if you aren't planning on doing it yourself.

I have a Ferris 52" DD and a 36" Belt Drive. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Been using for 5 years,52 dd. wouldn't buy the 48" personally with 52" available. You shoul be able to buy last years new for about 4800. I have the best service dept around. that's what's important. Ask for other lcs's i your area that have them and call them about the service. that's where your decision lies unless you can service them yourself. I'm buying a new one that has the new controls next year.

Why would you go for the 52in over the 48in? If I do go to buy one, which I probably am going to I am going to get the new floating deck one because of the twist of a handle to raise the deck. I am trying to make it as easy as I can for my guys, don't want them to waste time changing spacers to change the deck height. Yea, the new controls look pretty cool there the same ones on my simplicity.

I am going next week to look at one. I have a dealer right here in Lima, so there won't be that much away if I have to go get a part for it.
