    I was just curious,
how many people here actually protect themselves when applying fertilizer?
I never really have, just a good shower after applying. The clerk at the local Farm-store told me one of their staff succumbed to cancer because of this.
    Sounds pretty extreme. (?)

I heard 2-4D might cause cancer. That's in a ton of granual and liquid fertilizers.

If you expect to be exposed for a long time, perhaps consider a mask to avoid breathing it. Wear protective gloves, shoes, and avoid all skin contact.

If it comes in contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately. Best to read the label for all interactions with the body.

2,4D was one of the primary components of Agent Orange.
NO ONE can say what caused someones cancer, but handle with care. Of course that is a pesticide, not a fertilizer. Straight fert wouldn't be any problem that I know of.
