We do 1.5” on lawns that small enough to be push mowed and 2” if bigger mowers needed.

provides smooth surface for leaf blowing and more leaves blow off lawn and onto neighbours between visits.

despite conventional wisdom 1.5 lawns bounce back great in Spring

Didn't you say your normal HOC is 2 inches anyway?

Normal HOC 2” on push mower lawns and 2”-2.5” Summer height on the rest. Over 3” you going to be replaced quick.

So your really only dropping a 1/2 inch on push mow lawns.

Does it really make much difference?

So many leaves here hard to tell. Supposition is that the more like pool table we can get lawn, faster leaves will get off it.

I haven't changed cutting height in 25 years, season start to season finish.
never an issue with leaf removal.
don't like the pool table look anyway. LOL

We're cutting at 2.75". We really don't go lower than that. No issues.

Everyone I know in central Ohio mows 4 inches. Southern Ohio 11/2- 2 inches. If you mow 2 inches in central Ohio it will kill it.
