I have two floating decks. Both Exmark turf tracers. I've never owned a fixed deck. When I was getting ready to buy, I sought out guys already in the business and the floating deck was the choice of most. But cost is a factor, just like a hydro compared to a belt drive. I chose to spend a little more now to make things a little easier in the long run. After mowing some of my so called lawn(rough cow pastures) Irealize a fixed deck would have been digging in all the time. The only floating decks I know of are Exmark, Toro, Scagg. Could be others.
