what are the major benefits to a floating deck verses the fixed deck?

and is it worth the difference in price?

You must be talking WB cause all Z is floating...
It depends on how often you change height in days or week. I don't change height since I bought my eXmark cause all my accounts are St. Augustine grass and 4" cut is standard to keep lawn healthy and beautiful so a fixed deck on 36' or 48" will be pretty good enough. As far as scalping, at first you learn, as of now with experience I don't scalp cause you learn how to ride behind them and know your mower do and don't. So I am happy with fixed.
