I know that things in FL are priced differently than in other parts of the country, but how low do you have to go?

I am looking at getting back in the biz, but I want to make sure it makes sense from a financial perspective.

I live in an area with a bunch of little lots and would like to get an idea of where other FL guys are pricing lots along with mowing time.

0-5K sq ft (several in my area)
5K-10K sq ft (tons of these)
10K-15K sq ft (seems rare)

I guess either way. It seems that most stuff down here is monthly, but shouldn't it work out the same if it is monthly? If not, please set me straight!

$16 a cut $50 a month I could never figure out why people just will not pay in this state.

It would work out the same but it would suck cause your profits are cut in half during the winter. Yearly contract broken down into monthly payments is the best way to go. April-October is your weekly November-March Bi-weekly.

42 cuts a year so if its $25 a cut it would be $87.50 a month unless my math has been off this whole time .

I'm not sure what my lot sizes are but in central florida 22.50-25.00 a cut is the going rate, takes about 20-25 minutes in and out.

I have a $20/cut minimum. Which works out to $65/monthly on an annual basis. These are "low as I go" prices.

$87.50 thats the max i can milk out of the Rotonda Area, Sarasota i can get $100+ per month on propertys. All mowing only no addons for landscape.

I know of several people paying $85 per mo for a 8500 sq ft yard. Just seems really cheap to me. That works out to just at $24.28 per cut figuring 42 cuts.

About $75 per hr. Is that it?

I dont pull my equipment off the trailers for anything less then $85.00 per month. If you provide a good svc then Reasonable ppl will pay.

You can make as much as anyone anywhere here. Just dont listen to the guys that say $50-65-75....... You may not get every estimate you go to, but there are alot of people willing to pay you what it is worth.

These are just some general prices:
0-5K sq ft = $20 Per cut
5K-10K sq ft = $20 to $30 per cut
10K-15K sq ft = $30 to $45 per cut
Now these prices don't include obsticles you need to charge more for those.
and even sometime, when i know the size of the property i will charge a one time mow just to see how long it will take before i give them a monthly price.

Yep! Thats how you got to do it (yearly contract) same price all year long!

Agreed. A decent percentage of perspective customers are willing to pay a fair price for quality, reliable service. They actually have a way of finding you, rather than you finding them.

We have one that is small enough when it is wet we can use the string trimmers to do the whole place. The whole contract takes about 12 minutes at the most it's our cheapest one it is 100.00 per month most others are anywhere from 125.00 on up to 300.00 per month on the homes. People are working cheap and that makes you have to do so if you want to keep any business no matter how good your work is people don't have the extra cash they use to and want to save anytime they can. Were lucky we have been around a long time and have had some of the same customers for over 20 years now. I made a post today on low ballers working for peanuts.
