I used one once for about 8 hours 12 years ago on a golf course mowing very steep banks of grass along sand traps and ponds. We had to wear steel toes................kinda cool, but not for me.

Yep plenty of 'em down here, lotta old ladies use 'em.Biggest cause of death in old ladies in New Zealand..being electrocuted by mowing over there electric mower cords!!!!!!!!!!:D
They make a gas powered one too but they never really caught on,the downdraft from the blades to make it hover blows grass down,Kinda defeats the purpose!,But wait theres more also got one with a grass catcher on the back, but when catcher gets full, yep you guessed it,it tilts back and breaks the downdraft and it stops hovering!Good idea but mowers need wheels!!!!:D

I have used the gas power version before. They are used mainly for steep grades. In my opinion a skilled user with a good trimmer is better and faster but they are a fun novelty.

Husqvarna makes two different models, a 16" and a 21"

I agree. Good operator with a decent brushcutter will leave the
    hover mower for dead.
