Got three threads with three different subjects.

Dallas is ALL 6" vb so let's see it from that perspective.
The first pic is a box done right. Not a good pic but a DV100 centered and serviceable from the box. Unfortunately the placement of the boxes by this tree spells future trouble in the second pic. The next pic is two 205s nicely snuggled together. Only one needed service but since it was dug up we repaired both. Should be okay for 10 to 15 years.

At least it's a valve box. I had a call at a condo the other day with a one zone not working. Only one valve box was visable, a large one with one valve and obviously a junction point for all control wires. Of course this was not the valve I was looking for. I broke out the tracker and found that one about 10 feet away. No valve box, just a piece of 4" PVC around it, covered by 3 inches of dirt. It's pretty bad when $2 and change for a economy box seems too much to spend.

Anyone ever see the 'ultra-economy box' ?? - it was a black plastic cap that fit on the end of a 4-inch PVC pipe - not that you could do much in the space, but it was a place marker. I think Toro made the caps.

I've run across a few of those. Sometimes just the cap and no pipe. Just like a cute little hat for the valve.

I used to see them on hydraulic systems a lot. That being said, you understand why I hope I never see another...................

    Man I miss fire ants.

those 2 valves in that box is about right for an unlicensed outfit.
