briggs vertical 6.5hp -- NLA no replacement
    model 121687 type 0343

    condsidering replacing with
    model 121607 type 0562

are these motors close enough to be interchangable?
i plan on swapping the bottom sump w/pto from my old unit
    onto the new

or if you have a more suitable model # that is available

What failed on your engine ?

If the cam is still good just swap it to the new engine as well as the sump/pan, But order a new crank seal and sump/pan gasket.

One other thing, The crankshaft in these engines have different part numbers, I'm not sure I can look up the drawings on theses to see the difference so make sure the crank output shaft is the same size-length and end bolt size before you purchase.

    since this motor is NLA,
i ve had them rebuilt 2x this year by a small engine mech,
never been right and at any rate
the governor does not work now and
it burns all of its oil daily

im worried the cam may be worn, it was not replace during rebuild and
has around 900 hours on it

    thanks for the help

well PG refused to sell me just the pulleys and gearbox pieces/bracket to
ultimately eliminate the need for a pto shaft coming out of my motor,(these are parts from thier Ultra x upgrade kit)

so i ordered this motor and parts and im gonna try assembling and try it out
    briggs 121607-0562
    cam 694037
    gasket 692232
    crank seal 399781
    pto seal 691952

ill take a couple pics and post my results
    wish me luck

So what happens if any of those parts fail? You need to buy another upgrade kit?

I just saw they have that on their website now...along with the price. 1500+ and you get a 200 dollar junk honda engine? LOL. At least put a GX series in the kit....

yah silly, but im sure it all revolves around the almighty dollar-
