A good way to break into landscape lighting or who needs um?
well I will bite on that ?? I say it could be a waste of money. You STILL to WORK at getting the word out about whatever it is that you do. There is a TON of info here and other places on the lighting biz.
Don't these operations offer marketing support? Otherwise what do they offer?
I agree. I am just started my company a month ago. I new nothing about landscape lighting and just set up my first demo last week. Some of the franchises are 60-80K start up. Do you know how much advertising you could do with $60,000. You would easily drum up some business I am sure
I guess the hardest thing has been for me is pounding the pavement and not getting discouraged. I am also going to talk with some hardscapers and designers today.
Im sure some offer support but what your paying for is an established supposedly trusted name. My key selling point is im a 1 sometimes 2 man show.. You get personalized attention from the owner who takes pride in his work. Im rarley pleased with myself therefore always push for more. Always looking for ways to improve in everything I do.
If your going to buy a fran. you best make sure it has an impecable name... or insane business... like a mc donalds
Do you guys think that the general public holds any landscape lighting franchise in high regard? Enough to say OK I'm gonna hire OLP cause I heard they are the best. They are big in my area of Ohio, but for the most part they haven't branded their name enough that 90% of homeowners probably never heard of them. They do work cheap , cheaper than me at least.
can't remember, but not impressed with any franchises fixtures I've seen, I believe most make their own fixtures...small selection. Every town has a dealer who sells cars of many makes to the masses. Hotshot, keep selling your exotic expensive cars. the franchises and big outfits just help you get some free advertising.
