Open that question up a little more.
What's the site topography.
Length of drain.
Soil type.
Reason for drain.
Just trying to get a better feel for the quote you need.

The drain will be about 3 feet long. They are getting a little water from the basement. Its on a slope and the soil is rocky, clay, small amount of sand. Last year I excavated a 2ftby2ft area of loam, replaced with crushed gravel...this helped alot, but didn't totally fix the problem. I am figuring there is a bit of runoff. I also am going to recommend they have extensions on the gutters to further push away the runoff.

I've got one to do this weekend.70 feet long, with catch basin and septic basin(plastic can with holes).Sod replaced on top of drain.Price is $1400.Cut them a deal since they are yearly lawn contract customers.
For one your size,I'd just charge by the hour including time to gather materials.I think you'd be better suited to go at least 10 feet with the drain tile.(Hard to determine without seeing exactly what the situation is though)
