Which do you recommend? I have heard a number of positives on the front mount (get under bushes, the view of what you are cutting is out in front)Any brand recommendations on either style. Thanks

Case open:D Steiners or Ventrac 4x4 front mounts will climb a mountain & they come standard with the striping roller If you don't like the 4x4 try a 230 Steiner with the hydrolic weight transfer you can put 800 pds. right over the drive wheels and they will climb that same mountain. Now case closed:cool:

If I only could have one I would pick a mid-mount. If I already have a mid-mount I might buy a front-mount for the option of using power driven implements. Unhook the mowing deck and use an arerator for instance. The front mount Grasshoppers have the tilt up deck for easy cleaning and blade change, IF that's an issue.

If anyone is in the market for a front mount I saw a new but previous model year toro 48" mulching deck front mount mower on Ebay for a LOT less than retail price. I think it was around $4500. You'd need a seperate discharge deck (60 inch I think) if you needed to discharge too.

A Walker is a front mount n an Exmark is a mid mount

Both mowers have there own advantage ... fore me the front mount is Slower but can get into close tight yards with lots of obstacles .... while the mid mount (exmark) can kick butt on large open areas

A front mount will get under trees and shrubs and other obstacles, saves some time weedeating. Sure is easy to service a frontmount deck too. I can change blades while it sits on the trailer with no problem, not need for some special jack or floor jack. Makes it easy to clean underneath the deck as well. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages, look at what your needs call for.
