    Hello All,

What is your Average amount of Fuel used for each acre you Mow/Maintain. including Truck Fuel? 43,560 Sq. Ft. is an Acre.

Whats your daily Gross on mowing/maintenance and what percentage of that is spent on fuel?

Trying to get an idea of the more efficent setups Nowadays for Lawn and Grounds Maintenance.

Mower speed, mower width, engine size, grass length, grass density, obstacles, hills, operator habits will all have bearing on this. I'm sure most are around 6 to 12% of gross for mowers only. Trucks and trailers are a whole other matter. We use a cube van so we can carry everything and to save time loading and locking. We might get a little worse mileage but it saves us time everyday. We also have a truck and trailers but it's diesel. Even gate height makes a difference.

tire wear and gasoline burned and trimmer line are all mouse testicles.

they don't add up to anything worth noticing.

    labor is HUGE.

    Actually No.

The point of this question is to get EVERYONE thinking about their Costs/Overhead so we as a whole, can raise the bar on profits in Grounds Maintenance, and put some more $$$ in the bank for Retirement, when we can no longer do such hard work. Let those cheap customers who can't appreciate how much we do for them, do it themselves for a while.....Then they will understand, and pay the x-tra $10-20 dollars a week.

And Yes I would also factor in how much trimmer line I use per year......Thats overhead.

    Think About It......

2 cutters, 12 hour day, 25 acres, gallon per acre; it works. . .
