Gas hog

Right now I have a Ford F-150 with 4.6L V-8. I am getting about 11 miles to the gallon with my trailer attached and about 15 without my trailor. I just switched from a 4-cylinder Ranger to this truck and am sick of paying high gas bills. What is your experience with small trucks with 3L or 4L V-6. Do you think I should get a 3L V-6 or a 4L V-6? What gas mileage do you guys get? How do you guys with F-250's and F-350's afford the gas especially when you are out running around to different job sites?

maybe your route is long or something. but it has always been my opinion that, if your worrying about the pric of gas, your prices are too high. I have made 4k this year (part time, i go to school) and i have spent mabe 200 on gas. thats not enough to worry about. yeah it sucks when i shell out $40 to fill up my truck, but i realize that half of that driving was personal, and its not bad when i make $500 off that $40 fill up. <br>88 Chevy 1500 305 v8 (5.0 liter) 13-16 mpg

Paddy was right about the route. Make sure your route is the most efficient it can be. My route still has some tweeking to make it better. If your equipment is minimal you can get by with a six cylinder. There used to be a saying..&quot;theres no replacement for cubic inch displacement&quot; Im a fan of torque however.

My Dodge gets 9 mpg, 300 a month for gas another 120 for the equipment, the truck sits unless its going from job to job.<p>radio blurb this am, expect another 50c/gal by July 4, then even out, dropping slightly after Labor Day but $2/gal gas will be here to stay soon. Prepare for it.<p>Bill

I have a 89 Chevy 2500 with 4.3 v6 auto and its very short on speed and power on any hill or even a long incline. I would not recomend a 6 cyl in this business. My weight requirements are incressing every year.

My 95 F150 (302/5 speed)gets about 10 towing and about 14 without. I thought it did worse but I check several tanks lately and thats what it got. Not great, but if you use it only for work, it's ok.
