i ran the redmax trimmer once already. a week later i go to use it and i pull a couple of times, then one more and gas just spits out the exhaust. i have had this new for a little over a year. any suggestions on what might be wrong and should i fix myself?

1.) If the gas exiting your exhaust is black, sticky then remove and clean spark arrestor. If spark arrestor removed and clean then go back to 2.

2.) Metering lever in the carb may be sticking allowing the carb to flood.

Inspect inlet needle on carb, under the metering lever, for obstruction or sticking due to gum buildup. Replace diaphragm and gaskets when reassembling.

thanks, plan to disassemble and see if the needle is stuck. the gas coming out the exhaust appears to have a red color to it. so, i'm thinking raw gas is going thru.
