I am currently working for a company that sprays commercial and large hoa sites. They are very successful, and have grown immensely. I have been able to learn alot and perfect my skill. Unfortunately, there isn't alot of room to move up. So i am looking to go on my own.

I'd like to tap into the residential side of things for now. That seems the easiest (safest). Ive been doing alot of research on products, equipment, ect. One truck and spray rig. Trying to keep overhead at a minimum.

**My roadblock - how do I build the clientele list?**

There has to be a better way then the flyer with removable phone numbers on the board at the back of the local convenient store. The good news, I like where I'm working now. So I can continue to do that while I'm trying to start my own thing (keeps the pressure down). Im trying to officially start up spring 2012.

Try an ad on Craigslist. Beware of the cheapos that will try to get you to do a bunch of stuff for next to nothing. Theres many of them out there! Ask family and friends to ask around for you and pass out your number. Go door to door, hand out buisness cards etc! You get the idea. Good Luck!

You will find that every Tom dick and Harry in your area will post a small business add on Craigslist and I think that's one of the last places your potential clients will look. Try Merchant circle or something along those lines of advertising.

I don't know about your state but here licenses are not transferable... meaning you will have to obtain a separate license for your own company... Something to look into.

Here what works best is the door to door flyer.
Yes it is a lot of work, but it pays off :)

Craigslist will get you cheap people and you will make no profit or pay to work.
Sometimes things are harder than we expect, but if it was easy... everyone would do that and be millionaires.

If you have the budget, try mailing packs such as valpak... and remember that partnering up with second bests will only get you second best results
