Starting with the Northstar 32V V8 that has been the flagship engine choice for Cadillac owner for over 20 years.

The days of the gasburner gas guzzling V8 are numbered, and going to be limited in production, even in trucks; ironically this is typical for GM back in the 80's GM conveted a 350 gasburner into a diesel burner. That diesel offered great fuel economy, but poor reliablity our family was living in Flint, Michigan at the time and we had two GM diesel vehicles with the engine's, kept blowing the heads off:laugh:.

GM has come into a new era of high fuel price's that have no sign of changing, and if you pay attention to the underlying "chess game" GM is playing I am willing to bet we are going to see (CGI) V6 &V8 durmax diesel's in everything from Chevrolet Impalas, to the Cadillac's, Hummer H1, H2, and GM trucks.

GM already has 17 model diesel cars & trucks in 47 countries around the world; consequently some of those will be coming home to the USA.

Dad had one of those diesels, I think a 5.7 in a big station wagon and was awesome. He had no trouble but the body finally rotted away. He got good mileage with it and drove great in the winter.

Old news to some? thats funny, the news Media cannot put it down 45% off MSRP on gas guzzlers LOL. Most are in denial about their beloved gas guzzling V8 being fazed out, don't want to believe it many posts going the other way about diesels being replaced buy these "direct inject" gasburners. Just not the case diesels are replacing the gasoline engine slowly.
