Can anyone tell me if a golden maple tree would be a good choice for a customers yard. He likes the color and shape, but not sure about disease resistance, growth rate, hardiness in Michigan, and shade/sun tolerance. It does not seem to be as common as the chrimson red but is it as durable and slow growing? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not too familiar with the golden maple but we have had great results with sugar maples and october glory maples. Excellent growth rates and excellent fall color. Sugar maple especially should work well that far north.
