Is this a good deal or not. A retired lco has offered me a w/b blower before anyothers because he knows me well. It's a 3-year old Giant Vac with a 5hp Briggs I/C engine on it. I currently borrow an 8hp from a friend but will the 5hp be almost as strong? He says its in brand new condition an he's only used it once. He wants $375. Is this worth it or not. I will be looking at it tomorrow afternoon. Thanks

I dont think I would mess with a 5 hp unit. If I'm going to haul that heavy blower around I would want a 8-13 hp one. For 375 I would look at a big bp like the shin 630 or the redmax 7001. It will be a lot more usable year round and almost as powerful.

I agree with passing on this 5 hp blower. Go for a big backpack blower as you'll get more use out of it. If your accounts are small enough to use a 5hp blower on, then a big bp blower is all you'll need anyway.

By the way, unless your property is level the wb blowers can be a real pain. I rented a 13hp little wonder last year on a 5 acre very hilly property with about a thousand oak trees on it. I almost killed myself moving that brick around. However, it did blow leaves like 30 feet.

I can certainly see how the 13 horse would wear you out,...especially up and down grades. That would be like pushing a CAR, after a while.
