What type mower is best for hills?n

I "tried before I buyed" a gravely pro 60 out front mower that did crappy on my hills. It would lose traction half way up and just start spinning and start SLIDING down the hill. If I raised the deck I could usually make it up but half the hill is then not cut.

going down the hill was worse

My craftsman tractor can make it up - so I was surprised the gravely could not

    any suggestions are appreciated

I have about 1.5 acreas of grass with woods and a few hills - all the hills were mowed with my crapsman mower (craftsman!) with no problems except the 3.5 hours it took me to cut it

Doc, you are correct, at least in my experience... I believe, mostly because of the ability to transfer my weight, that the stand ups do have an advantage on the hills... I do a river lot that's pretty steep and it's kinda squirelly the first time you put it on the slope, but once you get used to using your body english, it works great.
