hey guys im looking into buying a used John Deere its a 54" GS75 walk behind belt driven, guy isnt sure the exact year but it looks like a early 2000 to me!!?? he also says less then 100 hours on it which im sure it has at least double that because there is no hour meter. any one use/own one of these mowers or have any input I would greatly appreciate it. he was asking $1700 2 months ago and dropped price to $1400 yesterday which hits my price range perfect and I may offer him $1200 cash. Thanks again guys:drinkup:

Looks like an 01-03 to me, I picked up an '02 GS75 with the 48" deck and 250 hrs. last year from a lady getting a divorce and got it dirt cheap. It has the one of the nicest cuts of a non floating deck WB I've ever seen discharging with gator blades on it. I've bought and sold about a dozen WBs over the past couple years and $1200 is exactly what i would pay for it, layout the CASH in front of him and i'll almost guarantee he'll take it. Good Luck:)

That sounds like good advice on the cash offer of $1200, but check the oil first to make sure it isn't milky looking at all, especially if it has been outside much this winter.

We had a GS45 of that vintage. It was the mower that we started our business with. We purchased it used. The machine was used everyday as our main mower for 2 years. It enabled us to grow into more equipment. We found it to be very economical and reliable. QOC was very good across all of the conditions that we used it under.
The GS 75 looks like the same machine, except ours was 48". Parts were easy through Deere. Sold it after 4 years for just what we paid for it.
Based on my experience, if it was not abused, you should be satisfied with it.
    Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys, still kinda feeling the guy out, takes him forever to respond via email lol trying to wait as long as I can to see how much I would actually need the 54" deck or if it would be second to my smaller mowers
