Gopher-preneur book of the month Mar. '05, Dare to Succeed Dare to Succeed: How to Survive and Thrive in the Game of Life by Mark Burnett Mark Burnett is now known as the creator and executive producer of the hit television shows Survivor and The Apprentice but how did he get there? He was born in England in the early 1960's. After high school he became a British paratrooper. Looking for more adventure he moved on from the paratroopers and was going to follow a friend's suggestion he join him in South America to work for a private security firm. On his way to South America he stopped in California to see another old military buddy. Mark was shown all the wonders California had to offer and decided to stay. His first job in the U.S. was as a nanny. Next he sold life insurance and then quit to sell t-shirts on the beach. What an interesting story this book tells. How with the money he saved, he created the 1996 Eco-Challenge which was broadcasted on TV. Later came another outdoor adventure television show called Survivor. A chance encounter with Donald Trump at a New York party allowed him the opportunity to pitch his idea for The Apprentice and the rest is history. Mark made his dreams happen and continues to do so. You can too. Get inspired to dream and to grow! Read this book. We did!
