I have a older modle briggs, eleven hp. the old engine blew and I installed a used but good engine. after changing starters, selnoid, and rebuilding carb, it wants to kick it self, seems to be fireing early. it has a new battery and all seems to be fine, but when cranked it rolls up to compression and it stops and then rolls over top dead or it kicks back. as far as I know the key would be the only thing to change timeing, Is this not correct.. Does the 11 and 12 hp. briggs take the same key as the five horse power??? It has me stumped:confused:

As far as I know all Briggs use the same flywheel key. Now Tecumseh on the other hand uses half a dozen or more.
