After weeks of trying to decide I finally bought the JD 997 today. I got the 60 in deck, well it really is a 62 in. I mowed a small pasture to try it out, this thing is a beast!! There is a big difference between my 757 and my 997. I really like my 757 alot!! but the 997 will be for my larger accounts. I will let everyone know how it does I have a 25 acre horse ranch on the list for tomorrow.

Congratulations on you new 997! I rode one around the dealers lot but have never cut with one. I have a JD tractor with the Yanmar diesel and it has been flawless. I would expect the one in the 997 to be just as good. Good luck and keep us posted. John Deere service has always been top notch in my area.

I'm working on the pics camera is broke, I hope to have some soon. We mowed today with it and the new Grasshopper 220 a friend bought today. There were several different types of mowing conditions today on the horse ranch we are working on. The 997 plowed right throught each with no problems, this grass was tall enought we had to rake it. At the end of the day we had filled up a 6 by 12 dump and a 16 ft trailer with cut grass. We to make some final adjustments on the 997 but all went great.

The grasshopper did just as good. I know it is a smaller machine but I was really impressed on the finish cut and in the tall grass. We literally went straight from the dealer to the ranch and let the Grasshopper 220 go to work. We will be back at it tomorrow trying to finish before the rain I will keep everyone posted on both machines.

Im actually doing alot of buying and trading in the next month or so. The 425 and 445 are getting traded for a X720 60" 7 IRON w/ Powerflow System as soon as it gets here. (Delivery date of 06/19/07:cry: ) The 997 is going to be replaced with a 757 60". The 997 is only usable on about 6 of my accounts, so its kinda a waste of machinery. I also need to get a second truck so need to take the spare $$$ and throw it that way.
