Grassy Weed ID

    Thanks for the replies. It is definitely not barnyard grass. Not cheatgrass. I also don't believe it's that stuff from the Ohio state link. Wild barley? Maybe...but the pictures I found look different than what I have.

    To answer the question about straw...yes it was seeded last fall. I have seen weeds germinate from straw but nothing quite like that. It is in a full clump just like the picture. It almost has like asparagus heads on it.

    It's pretty prevalent in one yard (never seen it anywhere else). Drive doesn't work on everything....I know gly will work but am hoping that is unnecessary - it would be great if it turns out to be winter annual or something that will disappear in the summer and not come back like some of the other "straw" weeds.

    Anyone else seen it?

    I see that and all I think is amateur job. It will never look right.
