I just got a 1 year old 34z for gated back yards. It came with gator blades but either need mulch kit or blade blocker. Which works better for you?

Get the Gravely mulch kit and do it right! It comes with blades and they work very well. We mulch 98% of the time.

Blade blockers only work if your just trying to keep clippings out of a flowerbed, you can't mulch (at least do a good jub mulching) with it. With a blade blocker the deck just shoots everything to the righ and will end up leaving a trail of debris behind. Mulch Kit really is the only way to go.
