I am interested in the Blade Cleaner. For those out there that already own one or for the factory rep, Is there a grit collector/vacuum that you have found that works well with this machine?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello Golden Boy

The MAG-12008 Lawnmower Blade Cleaner can be hooked up to any wet/dry shop vac 5hp and greater - make sure the hose is 2-1/2" diameter. Then it will fit nicely in the port on the back of the cleaner.

We are in the early design stages of making a multi-stage filter air cleaner for all of our equipment, but it may be some time before that is ready.

In the meantime a shop-vac will do a nice job for a low cost.

    Thank you,

What do other people use to keep the dust down when they are shapening blades? or are we just inhaling the dust?

    Hello Golden Boy,

Well all Magna-Matic sharpeners come with the safety guards, and all have vacuum ports so people can use an air cleaner or shop vac.

With our machines a lot of people use shop-vacs, or people will wear mouth/nose masks. We have some landscapers that will purchase the wheel kits for our stands so they can grind outside so they are not in a room with the dust.

Here is a link to the wheel kits

Porter Cable vac w/ dual filtration, via ducted & grounded hose through multiple blast gates. Ceiling suspended Jet airhandler overhead particulate air filter.

I've had the mag 9000 for many years now and from day one I've worn a respirator and full face shield when grinding. Even though I have a shop vac hooked to it to catch the particles there are still many on the floor and I'm sure airborne. Don't need that stuff in my lungs.

    Hello All,

A shop vac will help, but it does not do a great job. If you want more of the particles collected an industrial air cleaner would be required, but keep in mind they are very expensive. Even they will leave some of the heavy particles on the floor, but they will get almost all of the dust and smoke.
