What do you guys think the best way to go about getting a new loan to get going this time of year? I just finished up a big pond job and a lot of grading so I put down a nice coat of top soil on top of things. What products do you recommend to get the best result for new lawn start up? Keep in mind I dont have a pesticide license and anything like that

If the topsoil was 'finished' with a skidster bucket or other heavy machinery then you may want to slit seed and cover with compost to protect from drying out. Weeds will be your biggest problem.

Needs water minimum 5 times day. Not deep just enough to keep the seed moist. I have seen damping off (pythium) in a new seed bed this week. Considering you are farther south it could be a real issue.

Make sure you hit the area with a starter once the seed is sown.

The turf will probably need another application of fertilizer after the first or second mowing. If the seedling turf gets to a height of one or two inches and then stops growing and turns yellow you definitely need to fertilize again.
