Scott's website states that Grub-Ex will not kill existing grubs and if the homeowner knows that grubs exist, Ortho Insect killer should be used.

Last year I had significant grub damage. I tried to kill them with diazonon (?) in November but it probably didn't kill many of the grubs. They were still near the surface. In mid-June, I treated my yard with Bayer Advanced Grub Control (the bag that contains Merit). Will Merit kill grubs or is it only a preventative measure? I'm starting to notice some turf problems where the new grass was planted in early April. I cut my lawn on the mower's highest setting (3" +/-). I will start watering every other day, but we've had a lot of rain this spring.
