Boss thinks that this might be a Virgil Young system.
Or at least it was at one time.
who is Virgil Young and why is he destroying our sprinkler systems
I don't know much about him. I guess at one point he owned mister rain? But it is a poly system about 4 or 5 inches deep with a buckner backflow preventer and hydrorain valves. Im not sure that elbow is even glued.
Virgil Young invented high end irrigation systems up here. Mistr' Rain was the primo company until his early death in the eighties. He took me under his wing and taught me a ton about the trade. After his death, his two sons & daughter took over the business, and, as happens so often, ran it into the ground. The lash-up in the pic would have been done by the kids. He used only W*M and Imperial equipment and I miss him; he was special.
Interesting, the system could have been used if it hadn't been hacked up like it was. Two many heads on a zone though too, and the pipe was high in the ground.
