I have a hard time with pricing EP Henry Walls... I always seem to price what I think is a good price and it ends up being a low bid in the end.

How much to you charge per foot?:

Coventry Walls with the pins and caps
English/Nursery Stone Walls
Terrace Wall

I want to compare prices. I always charge more for the initial course. Then I drop the price for the next couple courses. Then I bump the price for drainage when the course get over 3-4 high.

Just for comparative purposes, what is your average price per square foot for paver installations.

As you know every job should be priced by the specifics of the job not sq footage, but for comparison sake we average between $55 and $65/ sq face foot on Coventry walls (no geogrid). Our average paver install runs about $15 to $25/ sq ft.
P.S. Every wall regardless of height should have some drainage measures installed behind it.

How about pricing for the English and Nursery walls?

I know each job is different and is hard to set standard pricing. I would like a more educated/precise way of pricing.

I have drainage for every wall. I normally do a pipe run for more then 4 courses.

I install very few garden walls, so I price them as they come. It is really the same amount of labor, just a decrease in the price of materials.

Every situation IS different, but customers always are asking about sq. foot pricing. But with curves, straight runs, height you are totally going to be using different amounts of wall and caps.

I will give an example...

A 35 feet straight run with English/Nursery Garden Wall with an almost flat grade going up three-four courses

A 35 feet curved run with English/Nursery Garden Wall with an almost flat grade going up three-four courses

What would you ballpark estimate it? I charge less for straight runs with minimal cutting.

When we price retaining walls there are many factor, which come into play. Even with all those factors, AKA as variables, this is how we price our walls.

We have a starting rates for the base course, AKA the first course, the other courses, geogrid and caps.

We charge a higher rate for installing the first course compared to the other courses. It takes longer and requires an aggregate base. The next courses always go up faster then the first course. Then the caps. They cost more then the retaining wall units. Then add in if it curved, steps up or has built in steps.

The starting rate would be in a perfect work setting with machine access.
